FEATURES / OUTSIDE THE APP

Reach from
the outside.

Use the operating system’s accessibility view, real mouse and keyboard input, and screen capture—without loading a probe into the application.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF ACCESS

The same toolkit.
A different reach.

This approach can reach signed builds and non-Qt apps, subject to platform and accessibility support.

Terminal / external example
python3 -m testhand launch --desktop -- /path/to/YourApp
# Or connect to a running process:
python3 -m testhand attach --pid 12345
python3 -m testhand click 'Button[text=Save]'
python3 -m testhand screenshot --out window.png

Connect to a running app.

Launch with the desktop backend or attach by process ID. Use the shared Python, command-line or MCP interface.

Respect the desktop.

Visible automation can move the actual pointer and send keyboard events. Run it in a controlled session, away from unrelated work.

Check permissions first.

macOS may require Accessibility and Screen Recording access. Backends and selectors have platform-specific limits; the Qt probe’s recorder and object properties are not a universal desktop feature.

Local testing. Real platform differences.macOS, Linux and Windows support differs. External desktop access may require OS permissions; available targets depend on accessibility support. No universal app compatibility or zero-permission promise.

FROM AN IDEA TO A REPEATABLE TEST

Your next test.
A little more human.

Choose the right backend, connect to your application and start with one small workflow.
